Caryota urens (Jaggery Palm, Sago Palm, Toddy Palm and Wine Palm) is medium scale to large, fast-growing, monocarpical palm with one robust stem and fibrous leaf strctures. The widespread, linear, 2-pinnate, dark green leaves, 6-50 wing-shaped leaflets, with a length of 30 cm, of 1-3 cm cream flowers, are obtained at the tree end then straight down from every leaf-axil. The sugar sapphire is boiled down to make or distilled into early life crude sugar (Jaggery). 12-25 m high, 10 m distributed. Native to India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia.
