Description Ficus microcarpa Green Island (Chinese Banyan) leaves are not much longer than their spread, say three to four inches in each dimension. The shape can be defined botanically as orbicular with just one dark tip. These variations in the leaf are very constant, but the growth pattern is even more prominent. It is easy to train like a ground-hugging shrub, which clings tightly to a rock over a roof, or even walls.
