Description Rhapis humilis (Slender Lady Palm, Tiny Lady Palm) This lady palm resembles its near relative Rhapis excelsa, with slimmer stems and drooping leaf segments which give her a more elegant appearance. Slowly it grows to form broad clumps of densely packed stems which reach heights of 6 to 8. The thin stems are covered in finely woven light brown fibre and crowded with 5 to 10 branches. The palmate leaves, carried on 12 petiols, are normal green and rise from 2 to 3 in diameter. Leaves are divided deeply into 1 broad segments which fall downwards. Male flowers borne on 2 branched inflorescences are dirty white. Fruit is not seen because there are no female plants remaining in this genus.
