Salvadora persica (Toothbrush Tree, Miswak) Is a tiny tree or shrub having a crooked shape trunk, rarely diameter of over one foot, its bark cracked and scabrous, pendulous in white at its ends. The tree’s root bark is light brown, the internal surfaces are white, the scent is like a cress with a moist and pungent flavor. Its fibrous forms were used by many Islamic cultures as toothbrushes.
